Every year, about 40–50 students enroll in the course, and although not everyone decides to complete the whole course, some find their passion and continue their education to move into research subsequently.
In addition to students of the University of Warsaw, students of the University of Rzeszów, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań also participated in the classes. For several years, students from the University of Leida (the Netherlands) and the Free University of Brussels (Belgium) also had the opportunity to apply. The course in English has attracted many people from abroad. „Maya Hieroglyphic Writing – beginner level” was completed by people from Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, Russia, Spain, the USA, Canada and Mexico.

In 2010, the Warsaw Maya Meeting conferencewas accompanied by two-day workshops entitled „Inscriptions from the Yokib kingdom”, conducted by Nikolai Grube and Boguchwała Tuszyńska, which gathered participants of earlier editions of the „Maya Hieroglyphic Writing – beginner level” course, students from the University of Warsaw, large groups from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Comenian University in Bratislava (Slovakia), as well as participants from Germany.
To this day, you can meet former students of the „Maya Hieroglyphic Writing – beginner level” course during various workshops organized as part of the „Wayeb” European Maya Conference and Cracow Maya Conference.
